Patrick Oberlin - Head Coach
Patrick “Macker” Oberlin is the Head Coach of the Ohio University Division Two Men’s Hockey Team. Macker is the younger brother of the programs former Head Coach Phil Oberlin. Patrick was alongside his brother Phil for six seasons and stood behind the bench as an Assistant coach next to former Head Coach Matthew Geib during the 2018-2019 season before taking over the Men's Division II team this summer. This will be Oberlin's first season as a Head coach in ACHA Division II Hockey.
Patrick grew up in Athens and played Athens Youth Hockey through high school. As a Junior at Athens High School, he helped his team win the Buckeye Cup Club High School Hockey State Championship in 2008. Following his graduation from Athens High School, he played for the Philadelphia Thunder (NJHL) for one year, before moving back to Athens to play two seasons for the Ohio Division II team.
Macker is currently studying to receive a Bachelors of Specialized Study and a coaching minor.
Beau Nishimura - Assistant Coach
Beau Nishimura is the Assistant Coach of the Ohio University Division Two Men’s Hockey Team. This will be Nishimura’s fifth year coaching with the Bobcats. In his second season last year, he was part of the coaching staff that coached the Bobcats to their first National tournament apperance in team history.
Like Coach Oberlin, Nishimura began his hockey career in Athens playing in the AYHA. He then moved on to play junior hockey for the Cincinnati Cobras (CSHL). Outside of the rink, Nishimura spends his time managing Little Fish Brewing Company in Athens, Ohio.
