Ohio Bobcats Win Both Games on the Road

The Ohio Bobcats had a successful weekend with two away games both resulting in wins. On Friday night, the bobcats faced off against The University of Pittsburgh at Alpha Ice Complex. Bobcats lead Pittsburgh after the first period 2-1, goals scored by CJ Hoy and Mason Yenchar. The Bobcats found their stride in the second period scoring 5 goals and letting in just 1, 7-2 was the score after the second. Joseph Pergolizzi scored 2 goals in the second as well as captain Nate McPherson, defensemen Patrick Daniels and another from Mason Yenchar. The Bobcats added two more goals to their lead in the third period for a final score of 9-4. Freshmen forward, Mason Yenchar had a breakout game scoring a goal in each period for a hat trick. Mason Schmitt had three assists on the night, CJ Hoy scored two goals and picked up two assists in Fridays win. Freshman Joe Sefchik made 20 saves in his debut in net for the Bobcats. Ohio Hockey had a fast turnaround and headed to The University of Akron for a Saturday afternoon matchup. The Bobcats lead 2-1 after the first period, goals from Mason Yenchar and defensemen Matt Wurst. CJ Hoy was the lone goal scorer for the Bobcats in the second period, Bobcats conceded one goal in the second making it a 3-2 lead going into the third period. Freshman Mason Yenchar capped off his standout weekend with another goal in the third, Akron was able to get one more past the Bobcats defense for a 4-3 final. Joe Sefchik stood tall in net and picked up another win for the Bobcats. Ohio Hockey is on the road again next weekend with games against University of Dayton on Friday and University of Cincinnati on Saturday.
