Bobcats Fall Short in TSCHL Playoffs
The Bobcats entered the 2017 TSCHL tournament as the #3 seed set to face off against the #6 seed University of Dayton. In the Friday evening quarterfinal matchup, the Bobcats defeated the Dayton Flyers by a score of 8-3. Ohio captain #4 Jordan Frasse put on a show as he produced 3 goals in the game. Goaltender #33 Jake Bloomfield played a content game in net while the Bobcats dominated puck possession in the offensive zone.
On Saturday, the Bobcats faced off against the #2 seed University of Louisville. The Cardinals hosted the tournament on home ice and had a first round bye. The two teams battled neck-and-neck throughout the semi-final matchup. The first goal of the game came in the 2nd period from Ohio player #20 Joseph Pergolizzi. However, the Cardinals quickly responded with a goal of their own to make it 1-1 going into the 3rd period. Ohio goaltender #32 Michael Lively stood on his head and the Bobcats penalty kill played a successful period with players in-and-out of the box. Yet, the Cardinals were able to slide one in with 1:11 left in the game and claim a 2-1 victory.
The Louisville Cardinals defeated the University of Cincinnati 6-4 in the championship. The Cardinals have now won the past three TSCHL playoff championships.
