Bobcat of the Week: Drake Drieberg
Drake is a 20-year-old junior currently studying Sports Management and Business Analytics. Drake grew up in Maple, Ontario, which is a suburb roughly 40 minutes north of Toronto. He has been playing hockey since the age of three. Prior to attending Ohio University, Drake played for the Goulding Park Rangers out of North York, Ontario. Although he is currently a defenseman he started out as a left-winger and moved back to defense when he was 11 years old. He is an avid Maple Leafs fan and hopes to be able to witness them win a Stanley Cup in the near future under head coach Mike Babcock. Other than hockey he enjoys watching baseball and football and identifies as a Toronto Blue Jays and New England Patriots fan. His favorite hockey memory was being able to watch Team Canada capture the Gold Medal at the 2015 World Junior Hockey Championships at the Air Canada Center in Toronto after a 5-year gold medal drought. Away from hockey Drake enjoys playing video games, specifically NHL and FIFA, lifting, hanging out with friends, listening to music and watching TV. Drake hopes to one-day work in the front office of an NHL or MLB franchise, specifically in the role of Director of Hockey or Baseball Operations. His favorite sports movie is either Miracle or Remember the Titans. Drake’s family includes a brother named Chase who will be going into his junior year of high school and is a defenseman as well. Drake is also thankful for his parents, Dirk and Vita, for all the success he has had and all the support they have given him over the last 20 years.
